ROBERT TOWNSEND SOCIAL ISSUES AWARD IS TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD
The Townsend Award was established in 1992 to recognize productions that recognized important social issues or to celebrate those individuals who were having a positive impact on these social problems.  The original idea grew out of “Absolutely Positive”, a CINDY Award winning film produced by Janet Cole and directed by Peter Adair on the impact of AIDS.  http://www.pbs.org/pov/absolutelypositive/.  The film follows 11 people living with the disease discussing the impact AIDS was having on their everyday lives.   (more)
